Regarding Shockwave Technology:
The international entity that certifies shockwave
equipment is the Scientific
Advisory Board of Physics and Technology of DIGEST – German speaking
International Society for Extracorporeal Shockwave
Therapy.
Based on the expert recommendation of the
Advisory Board of DIGEST, a so-called Quality Seal is
awarded to the manufacturers of shockwave devices,
who comply with the established and accepted shockwaves
standards in physics terms such as rising gradient,
curve, amplitude and pulsation length and duration, peak
pressures, energy distribution in the focus, total
energy and focusability ; these parameter data records
allow a technical-based comparability and scientific
proof between the various manufacturers.
So-called radial Shockpulse Therapy devices produce
mechanical waves and not "sound waves like shockwaves" ;
apart from this, they also differ in
scale from what is understood as shockwaves in physics
terms ; therefore they are not classified as shockwave devices by
the Scientific Advisory Board of Physics and Technology
of DIGEST; hence they should be classified under
Ballistic Shockpulse Devices, which is the correct
denomination in physics terms, in stead of
Extracorporeal or radial Extracorporeal Shockwave
Devices.
